Safeguarding. Everyone's responsibility.

At Winsome Care Ltd, we are committed to protecting every person we support from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Our safeguarding policies, procedures, and culture are designed to prevent harm, identify concerns early, and respond swiftly and effectively when issues arise.

Our commitment

Six principles of safeguarding.

We believe that every person has the right to live free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Our safeguarding framework is built on the six principles of safeguarding set out in the Care Act 2014:

Empowerment

People are supported and encouraged to make their own decisions and give informed consent.

Prevention

It is better to take action before harm occurs.

Proportionality

The least intrusive response appropriate to the risk presented.

Protection

Support and representation for those in greatest need.

Partnership

Services working together with local communities to prevent, detect, and report neglect and abuse.

Accountability

Accountability and transparency in delivering safeguarding.

Safeguarding awareness

Physical Abuse

Hitting, slapping, pushing, kicking, misuse of medication, restraint, or inappropriate physical sanctions

Domestic Abuse

Psychological, physical, sexual, financial, or emotional abuse by a partner, family member, or someone in a domestic relationship

Sexual Abuse

Rape, sexual assault, sexual acts without consent, including with people who lack capacity to consent

Career Development

We support staff to progress their careers through access to qualifications, additional training, and opportunities for promotion within the company as we grow.

Values-Driven Culture

We recruit for values first. You will be part of a team that genuinely cares about the people we support and is committed to empowerment, compassion, integrity, excellence, inclusion, and partnership.

Supportive Management

Our directors are accessible, approachable, and directly involved in day-to-day operations. You will be supported by a management team with deep expertise in social care and HR.

How we prevent abuse.

Prevention starts with culture, recruitment, and training; and is reinforced by every interaction, supervision, and spot check.

Robust safer recruitment, including enhanced DBS checks, full employment history verification, and values-based interviewing

Comprehensive safeguarding training for all staff, refreshed annually

Regular unannounced spot checks on care delivery

Person-centred support planning that promotes choice, control, and empowerment

A culture of openness where concerns can be raised without fear of blame or reprisal

Clear whistleblowing policy and procedure

Regular supervision where safeguarding is a standing agenda item

Duty of candour compliance, ensuring transparency when things go wrong

How to report a safeguarding concern

You do not need to be certain that abuse is occurring to report a concern. If something does not feel right, report it. It is always better to raise a concern and be wrong than to stay silent and allow harm to continue.

Report a Concern

We would love to hear from you. Whether you are looking for supported living for yourself, a family member, or someone you work with professionally, our team is ready to help.
